A transfer story concerning Chelsea has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern, courtesy of the Daily Star.
The paper suggests that Chelsea’s recently reported interest in Bundesliga star Max Meyer has been confirmed by his current club Schalke.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who starred for his side during their 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the German club, netting three times already.
Jose Mourinho was clearly impressed with the highly promising teenager during their recent Champions League tie and he could now look to add him to their ranks with a £12.5 million offer in the pipeline.
Meyer was given an opportunity in the Schalke team after Lewis Holby completed his transfer to Tottenham in January.
But despite reported interest from England, the German Under-19 international has recently insisted that he is happy with life at the Gelsenkirchen club and would be willing to sign a new deal at the Veltins Arena.
“I am happy that I am so popular. But I feel very comfortable here,” said Meyer.
“I hope that an agreement is achieved. I think it will happen this year.”
Will Chelsea’s pursuit of Meyer prove a success or should he continue his education at Schalke? Let us know your thoughts below.
