So is Borussia Dortmund’s attacking star Marco Reus, according to the latest reports emerging from The Express.
The publication says the German midfielder is understood to be ‘furious’ with the Catalan giants for their pursuit of the Uruguayan striker, as he turned down the chance to join Manchester United in the hope the Spanish club would come in for him.
Reports in Spain claim Reus cannot understand why he has been overlooked in favour of Suarez, with the Uruguayan forward two years older than him.
Reus’ agent was said to be in talks with the Spanish giants for several months and a move looked all but certain.
However it seems new Barcelona boss Luis Enrique overruled Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, who was pushing the move for Reus, claiming he was a huge admirer of Suarez.
Reus’ annoyance is magnified by the fact he is understood to have been discouraged from making a move to Manchester United, in favour of a switch to Spain.
Dortmund are continuing to insist the 25-year-old will not be allowed to leave, but it remains to be seen as to whether United make another approach, with Bayern Munich also said to be monitoring the situation.
