Who are ya? Who are ya? jeer the Chelsea fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern as they drink in the latest offering from The Mirror.
According to the publication, Hakan Calhanoglu is on Jose Mourinho’s radar after some impressive performances in the Bundesliga this season.
The Turkish international may not be a household name as yet but he hit the headlines earlier this season when he managed to score a sensational free-kick against Borussia Dortmund.
Now this wasn’t just any free-kick; this free-kick came from all of 50 yards out and ensured that he continued to shine in an otherwise struggling Hamburg outfit.
He would be available for around £12.5 million, but that could fall as low as £7.5 million if Hamburg are relegated, and as the Chelsea fans in here point out – that’s mere pennies for Roman Abramovich.
Liverpool are also said to be rumoured in Calhanoglu as the Reds start to strengthen their squad as they look ahead to next year’s Champions League campaign.
But should Mourinho be aiming higher and be looking to bring in some marquee signings?
After crashing out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage this season and coming up short in the Premier League, there is no doubt that some changes need to be made at Stamford Bridge this summer.
And the 20-year-old could be one of those changes as preliminary discussions begin with the midfielder likely to be joined by Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa any time soon.
Chelsea fans. Is Calhanoglu a name you would like to see arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
