Skysports.com have revealed that Burnley’s Dutch midfielder Remco van der Schaaf will move to Danish side Brondby on a long term loan. The 30-year-old spent a loan period with the Danish club last season and Brondby have been keen to bring him back since.
Although he had a decent career with Dutch side Vitesse, van der Schaaf never managed to break into the first team at Burnley since his arrival in 2008 and made just one appearance for the club in his spell at Turf Moor. New manager Brian Laws is expected to continue where Owen Coyle left off by leaving the Dutchman out of his plans and thus van der Schaaf looks set to move on to save additional wages being spent.
Burnley are yet to make strides in the transfer window but van der Schaaf’s departure should be the start of activity at Turf Moor with Laws keen to make his mark on the team by bringing in players he values. James Beattie and Jack Wilshere are said to be top of the priority list with a few other names also being dallied around.
