Burnley set to pursue summer transfer move for Championship ace

The Burnley fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased that they will still be supporting a Premier League club next year.

After winning the Sky Bet Championship title in May 2016, Burnley’s ambitions were initially to stay afloat in the top flight.

Thanks largely to some extremely impressive home form at Turf Moor, Burnley survived with relative comfort and will now look to push on next season.

Sean Dyche will be looking to sign some talented players in the summer transfer window and the latest name on their wishlist is Barry Bannan, according to the Daily Mirror reporting via the Sky Sports News Live Transfer Blog [Monday 29th May, 08:12 GMT].

Barry Bannan is a target for the Clarets after Sheffield Wednesday fell short of promotion again this season.

The Owls lost on penalties to Huddersfield Town in the play-off semi-final after losing in the play-off final last season against Hull City.

Barry Bannan has been one of Sheffield Wednesday’s top performers over the past two seasons and he could be tempted by a Premier League switch.

The 27-year-old joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2015 after spells with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

The Scotland international is a left-footed central midfielder who is renowned for his passing ability.
