Burnley continue to surprise many in the Premier League and last season saw them secure their best ever finish as they qualified for European football for the coming campaign.
The Clarets and manager Sean Dyche deserve all sorts of credit, and while they might not always get it, we here at the Transfer Tavern are big admirers of the work that’s gone down at Turf Moor of late.
A quiet summer has led to some concern though among the Burnley fans it would seem, and it would be surprising to see the club not make any big additions before the Premier League kicks off in two weeks time.
One thing which is always vital in any squad is goals, and despite having the likes of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes among the ranks, we think that signing someone like Derby County star Matej Vydra would be a superb move by the Clarets.
The £7.2m-rated ace was all set to join Leeds this summer before seeing the move break down, and he is now in limbo, but crucially, open for a club like Burnley to make a swoop for his services.
The Rams striker was the top man in the Championship last term and smashed in over 20 goals to fire his side into the playoffs. However, it was not to be in terms of promotion, and it would appear that Vydra might well be keen on a move away.
Quick, good in front of goal, and hungry to prove himself, Vydra would offer Burnley something completely different, and would surely be an excellent addition for the Lancashire club.
Burnley fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
