Burnley ended up having a decent enough transfer window in the end, with the likes of Matej Vydra and Joe Hart joining an ever improving squad at Turf Moor.

Clarets manager Sean Dyche will be hopeful of another successful season in 18/19, and will be keen to avoid the Lancashire club's venture into European football affecting the Premier League form of his troops.

There is however always room for improvement in any squad, and we at the Transfer Tavern think a few opportunities might have been missed in terms of adding new personnel, especially from those clubs who have recently dropped into the Championship.

One player we think fits this mould is former Nottingham Forest winger and current West Brom player Ollie Burke, who despite failing to impress last term, is a player with bags of potential.

The £9m-rated Scottish winger was superb for Forest initially before being moved on to RB Leipzig in a big money move a few seasons back. However, now back in England, his spell with the Baggies has not quite got going, and a move to another new club and fresh start could well benefit Burke.

Young enough to keep developing further, and already blessed with bags of pace and the ability to drive at and attack defences, Burke would bring something completely new to Sean Dyche's squad.

West Brom will no doubt be delighted to have kept Burke, but he could well have been the sort of excellent signing Burnley needed to push on this term.

Burnley fans, what do you think? Would you have taken someone like Burke? Let us know in the comments!
