Burnley will be hoping for another decent season in the Premier League under Sean Dyche, with survival no doubt once again the priority for the Lancashire club.
Manager Dyche will be hoping he can add some quality to his squad over the summer, and there’s no doubt he needs players across all positions if the Clarets are to improve on last year, although it a successful season last term.
Our landlord has been enjoying some good banter with the Burnley fans in the Tavern this week, and in among this banter there has been some serious chat around who the club should be looking to sign before the window slams shut at the end of August.
One player who our landlord thinks could make a huge difference at Turf Moore is current Fulham man Tom Cairney.
The former Blackburn man was sensational for the Cottagers last term, racking up goals and assists in abundance as Slavisa Jokanovic’s men just fell short in the playoffs. However, Cairney could be keen to try himself in the top flight, and Burnley have never shied away from dipping into the Championship market when making improvements to their squad.
Cairney would fit in at Burnley, and his ability in the middle of the park or behind the front-man could be something which gives the club an added spark in attacking midfield areas.
He would no doubt cost a fair few quid in today’s market, but Burnley can afford it now, and he would no doubt become an excellent player for them given the chance alongside Jeff Hendrick.
Burnley fans, what do you think? Would you take Cairney? Let us know!
