Burnley to make improved offer for Jay Rodriguez

West Bromwich Albion will be bracing themselves as an improved offer for one of their star men is expected this summer.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Burnley are set to make an offer of £18million for striker Jay Rodriguez as they continue to look for a new forward.

The Baggies are desperate to keep hold of the England international, however, it is believed that he wants to return to the Premier League and an offer from his hometown club would be too difficult to turn down.

The Hawthorns outfit have already rejected two bids from the top-flight side this summer, however, it appears the Clarets are ready to test their resolve, despite Sky Sports suggesting an offer of £20m would be needed to let him go.

Darren Moore has been working hard in the transfer window to limit the damage caused following their relegation from the Premier League and has already seen Salomon Rondon leave, although Dwight Gayle did come in the opposite direction.

The Verdict:

West Brom would have liked to have kept Rodriguez for the upcoming Championship campaign, however, it appears he could depart in the near future.

The England international has attracted plenty of interest in the recent months and with Burnley’s decision to up their offer, it could see him be sold.

Rodriguez played in the opening day defeat to Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, however, with the addition of Gayle, he may have played his last game for the Baggies.
