Burnley to battle Celtic in race to land Euro 2016 defender

The Burnley fans who are gathered around the pool table in The Football Transfer Tavern this evening are doing some digging a Man United youngster as they have reportedly joined the race for his signature.

According to a report in the Daily Record the newly promoted Premier League side have joined Celtic in the race to sign Man United youngster, Paddy McNair.

Sean Dyche has been an admirer of the player since January and is weighing up whether or not to make a move for the Northern Ireland international who has been told by new United manager, Jose Mourinho, that he is free to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The Clarets manager is keen to bolster his squad ahead of what looks to be one of the toughest Premier League seasons yet, and has been left disappointed after seeing bids for Derby’s Jeff Hendrick and Brighton’s Dale Stephens fail to tempt either side to sell.

Man United are believed to favour a permanent move away for the man who earned two caps at Euro 2016, but a loan move could also be an option should the terms be favourable to the Red Devils.

Burnley fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of this deal? Has McNair shown enough to prove he would be a good addition to your side? Let us know below…
