The Burnley fans who are gathered at the bar in The Football Transfer Tavern this evening are have been assessing the news that their club may be set to land one of the real heroes of this summer’s European Championships.
The South London Press is reporting that the newly promoted side have agreed a fee of £2.5 million with Charlton Athletic to secure the services of Icelandic international, Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
Gudmundsson has been one of the stars of Iceland’s terrific run at EURO 2016 which ended in 5-2 defeat at the hands of hosts France in Sunday night.
The midfielders displays have impressed Burnley manager, Sean Dyche, to the point that he feels the 25-year-old has what it takes to ply his trade in the Premier League next season.
The clarets have reportedly offered to pay £2.5m up front to the League One side followed by another £1m in add ons.
Norwich City had also been linked with the former Chelsea youngster, however with a fee agreed and with the lure of Premier League football, that ship may have sailed for the Canaries.
