Burnley fans can’t wait to get their Europa League campaign underway in just a week.

The Clarets ended the Premier League season in seventh place meaning they secured Europa League football at Turf Moor. For the first time since 1950, Burnley will be competing in Europe. Their European campaign starts against Aberdeen on July 26.

Sean Dyche knows he will need to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window. Many clubs have failed to cope with the strains of playing in Europe, and the Englishman will want to ensure Burnley don’t suffer a similar fate. The Clarets are yet to make a signing but have targeted Swansea midfielder – Sam Clucas.

Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, Dyche is a long-term admirer of the 27-year-old and had a bid rejected for the midfielder last summer. Following Swansea’s relegation to the Championship, he might finally get his man.

Clucas is the perfect signing to bolster the Burnley squad. He has plenty of Premier League experience and can play at left or centre midfield. His versatility will be crucial to maintaining their Premier League form while competing in Europe.

Reportedly available for just £12m, Burnley would be foolish to turn a move down. With just a week until the Aberdeen fixture, the Clarets need to get this one over the line quickly
