Busy summer ahead: Mourinho readying plans to take his Man Utd team to the next level

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are pretty divided on the long-term future of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. The Portuguese has always been a divisive manager and that has certainly been the case during his tenure in the Premier League.

At Man Utd, particularly over the last year or so, his tactics and team selection have often led to big debates in the pub, with results also not doing him any favours in recent weeks.

Mourinho plans this summer, then, will no doubt cause further division amongst the fan base.

According to the Daily Express, Man Utd are facing a very busy summer as Mourinho looks to make his mark on the team once again. They’re reporting that as many as 10 players, including Luke Shaw and Danny Blind, could leave the club this summer as the Portuguese begins to make plans for a clearout at Old Trafford.

That could be supplemented, it is said, by several arrivals – with Fred and Danny Rose apparently amongst Man Utd’s chief targets.

It will come as no real surprise to hear that a few players could move to Man Utd, given how much they have spent over the last few years, but the vast number of potential exits have certainly surprised our resident Red Devils.

It’s fair to say that some big changes are on the horizon at Man Utd.

Landlord’s Verdict

Man Utd have been below-par this season, and so a clearout does make sense.

Older players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic need to be traded in for new models, whilst the likes of Luke Shaw and Daley Blind simply haven’t been good enough to continue to feature.

The Red Devils need to be careful not to sell everyone without bringing in replacements, but Mourinho clearly has a plan in his head.
