After Damian Comolli was appointed Director of Football Strategy, he has identified two transfer targets that he believes are realistic for Liverpool.
According to reports, Emre Belozoglu is set to return to the Premiership, but it is not clear for how much. Claims of £10 million have been made, but it may be more likely that a bid of £6 or £7 million would be enough or a part exchange deal with Fabio Aurelio.
But the case of Adam Johnson is more intriguing. After his initial good form for Man City after his move, he has grown disillusioned with the situation and competition at Eastlands, mainly because of a lack of playing time. Highly rated by Roy Hodgson, Johnson may be the perfect acquisition for Liverpool, a player of genuine quality, with youth on his side but already with big game experience.
The questions are though, will he leave City and can Liverpool afford him?
