It is hard to keep up with Manchester City transfer rumours but the News of the World is reporting that Mark Hughes is “confident of landing” Barcelona enforce Yaya Toure in the January transfer window. Rumours of this move were pretty healthy in the summer but came to nothing but City’s blistering start may have made it more likely. The fact that his brother Kolo Toure has also been made captain under Hughes may add a further reason for Yaya to say goodbye to La Liga and hello to the Premier League.
News of the bonus payments being made to Manchester City players is not going to act as a deterrent for any potential new signing and its likely a Toure double act would make City an even more formidable outfit in the run in. It takes a lot to entice a player away from the Champions League winners to a side that is currently not involved in Europe but the sums of money and the long-term ambition being shown by the Eastlands club is not a common occurrence.
Will Yaya swap sangria for a pint of bitter? Will there soon be two Toures for City fans to cheer? Should this rumour fly or die?
