‘Can someone switch Fabregas off and on again?’ – Chelsea fans are fuming with their side’s Roma display

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were very optimistic about their side’s chances against Roma on Tuesday. Though the Blues have had a tough start to the season, they looked to have been past their blip after securing back-to-back Premier League wins against Bournemouth and Watford respectively. However, against Roma, it all fell apart.

The Blues were thoroughly outclassed and outmatched by the Italian side, returning to London as 3-0 losers. It was a bleak performance all round from the side, with no player putting in a performance of note. Indeed, the focus in the pub since the game has been on the worst performing players, with Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso and Gary Cahill earning a lot of criticism – though nobody has escaped scot-free.

It’s certainly a tough day to be a Chelsea fan, and that is being reflected by the fan reaction following the clash. Over on Twitter, Chelsea fans are absolutely fuming with the result, and are pointing towards both individual performances and, indeed, the collective display from their side with real scrutiny.
