It’s fair to say Bournemouth have had a tough start to their 2017/18 Premier League campaign, and the Cherries fans here in the Transfer Tavern are all bit underwhelmed with the side’s season so far.
Eddie Howe’s men currently occupy 19th spot in the Premier League table, having lost all of their four games so far this season.
The Cherries have already had to face Manchester City at home and Arsenal away in their opening four league games, and will be looking ahead to Friday’s match-up with south coast rivals Brighton as an opportunity to pick up their first points of the season.
Brighton managed to pick up their first points of the season last Saturday as they downed Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion 3-1 at the Amex Stadium – so will be heading to the Vitality Stadium full to the brim with confidence.
Cherries got back in bed with their sponsor, Mansion, a powerful online casino company whose industry spreads across multiple continents, like North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
One could say that the season ahead can be somewhat more positive than the previous one, despite recent defeats and 0 points on the table after 4 games played in the league.
The Cherries currently have a number of first-team players out injured which is doing Eddie Howe no favours at all.
Dynamic winger Ryan Fraser was forced off in the 3-0 loss at Arsenal on Saturday and joins Callum Wilson on the sidelines.
Junior Stanislas is a doubt for Friday’s match with the Seagulls, though is likely to be assessed nearer to the match.
It’s likely that Howe could move to a four man defence, with Jordon Ibe potentially being involved again after yet another disappointing display, against Arsenal.
There are positives for Bournemouth though, the Cherries are unbeaten in their last six clashes with Brighton in the league, certainly a morale boost for Eddie Howe’s men.
It will no doubt be an open affair at the Vitality Stadium on Friday in front of the Sky cameras, and our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern can see this being a close one, full of goals.
The landlord feels it will be a 2-2 draw at the Vitality, Defoe to notch a brace for the Cherries!
