The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Sun (via HITC) that Burnley centre-back, Ben Mee, could be on his way to Spurs in the summer. Tottenham have been linked with a number of defenders over the last few months as the Toby Alderweireld contract cloud still hangs over Wembley this season.
Whilst Ben Mee has been enjoying an incredible season as Burnley continue to punch above their weight, sitting 7th in the Premier League, Spurs fans would prefer to do their business elsewhere. Spurs have been known to conduct shrewd business with clubs like Burnley, as Pochettino poached Kieran Trippier from Turf Moor for a minimal fee back in 2015. This time though, Spurs fans will be hoping their club’s looking to Europe for a top quality defender if Alderweireld is to leave.
Tottenham have gone from strength to strength under Mauricio Pochettino and the fans will inevitably get behind whoever the Argentine believes is the right man to join the Tottenham defence. That hasn’t stopped the Lilywhites propping our bar up from speculating on Twitter over they want to see come to the club for their first season in their new stadium. Names such as Jonathan Tah and Matthijs De Ligt have been mentioned among the fans ideal Alderweireld replacement, although if they could have anything, the fans would have their Belgian defender sign a new deal.
With that in mind here’s the Spurs fans’ verdict on the Ben Mee rumours:
I'd pefer to a possible bid forJonathan Tah

We are going to be linked with every single ‘available’ centre back possible until the end of the transfer window.

Resigning Toby or moving for Tah or De Ligt are all better options
