Bastian Schweinsteiger was expected to be a big hit at Manchester United and one punter here in the Transfer Tavern is constantly mocked for immediately going out to purchase the club’s 2015/16 shirt with his name and number emblazoned on the back.
Despite his stunning career with Bayern Munich and Germany, the now 32-year-old has not had the most fruitful time at Old Trafford, with the pace of English football seemingly too great for him after a few injuries in his later days in the Bundesliga. Indeed, now Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho froze him out of his first-team set-up at the start of the campaign, only welcoming him back into the fold around the winter period when he was in need of bodies in the middle of the pitch.
With his contract due to end this summer it seems likely a transfer away from Man United awaits, and rumours of a switch to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire have been circulating for some time following GoalUSA’s report late last year that he’d been offered a $16.5m (£13.5m) contract over three years to switch to Toyota Park.
And now the speculation has picked up on Twitter over the course of the past 24 hours, with fans of the Men in Red pretty excited about the possibility of seeing ‘Schweini’ line up in MLS…
You can get your shirts pressed, Bastian Schweinsteiger will be a #cf97 player.

The divide b/t all of #cf97 on Basti is pretty fun tho!
On one side: its A NAME!
On the other: it doesn’t remotely address the team needs.
