There were some raised eyebrows last week when it was confirmed that Tottenham defender Steven Caulker had signed for Premier League newcomers Cardiff City in a deal worth around £8 million with the centre back rated highly by Spurs fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Reports from Metro now suggest that the Bluebirds are set to raid White Hart Lane again as they look to secure the signature of out of favour midfielder Tom Huddlestone who has been reportedly made available for transfer by Andre Villas-Boas.
The former England international faces an uncertain future in North London after the summer arrival of Brazilian ace Paulinho in a £17 million deal and a number of Premier League clubs are now monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation with a view to a possible move.
Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is looking to take advantage of this uncertainty by making a move for the former Derby County man, who has also been tracked by Fulham and Sunderland this summer, and he may follow Caulker down the M4 to South Wales for a fresh start at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The Bluebirds have also been linked with Ecuador international winger Jefferson Montero who plays for Mexican side Morelia, and could be prepared to move for the 23-year-old. Sources in Ecuador indicate that Montero’s agent Diego Herrera has spoken to Bluebirds bosses about a possible move after Mackay failed to land top target Tom Ince who instead remained at Blackpool.
