Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock will be relishing his return to the Premier League limelight after leading the Bluebirds to an unlikely promotion last term.

Warnock, of course, has been in the Premier League before with both Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, and he will be hoping to use the club's underdog status to their advantage over the course of the season as they look to pull off what would be a huge achievement in ensuring survival.

New players and quality additions will be a big thing for the club in the coming weeks, and we at the Transfer Tavern think that Warnock could do with adding some players with Premier League experience to the ranks.

One player who we do think fits the mould of a perfect sort of Warnock signing is Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, who is valued at a cool £12.6m by Transfermarkt.

The former Southampton defender has often struggled for consistency for the Gunners and has not always been a regular in the backline.

A new manager in Unai Emery might well prove a turning point for the young defender, but the chance to go and play regularly under the fiery stewardship of someone like Warnock could be the making of Chambers.

There is a quality player in there somewhere when it comes to Chambers, he just needs to find consistency and add to his game where it matters. A season on loan, or even a permanent switch to a club like Cardiff managed by Warnock, might well give Chambers the chance to show the world just exactly how good he can be.
