Cardiff City continue to struggle in the Premier League, and were dispatched with ease by Liverpool this weekend at Anfield.
Manager Neil Warnock will know the pressure will build if he continues to fail to get results, but there has to be an element of sympathy for Warnock, who is dealing with a smaller budget and less talent than most in the top flight.
January could be a big one for the Bluebirds, where they need to decide whether to stick or twist, but we think that they need to at least sign a few players of quality.
That’s why we at the Tavern think that signing Stoke City midfield general Joe Allen would be a superb piece of business in January, with the Welshman currently holding a value of £16.2m on Transfermarkt.
Allen would be an excellent addition for Cardiff, bringing plenty of top flight experience to a squad which is severely lacking both in that department and in terms of quality in the middle of the park.
The Welsh midfielder has been a regular for the Potters already, and showed his quality with a stunning free kick in the midweek draw with Sheffield United. However, he is a Premier League player, and the chance to move back to Wales, albeit his time at Swansea may play on his mind, might be too good to turn down.
A classy operator who would be a superb addition for Warnock and Cardiff, Allen would be a welcome boost to the Bluebirds in their fight for survival.
Cardiff fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
