Chelsea are potentially on the cusp of implosion, or they are as long as they aren’t playing unmanaged, undisciplined second-rate sides like Ipswich. Losing to Wolves and outside the Champions League places, Carlo Ancelotti is desperate to squeeze some money out of the now much more tight-pursed Roman Abramovich in order to save his job.
It is well known that when Abramovich took over at Chelsea he wanted the club to be self-sufficient and that is a plan it appears he is attempting to put into place right now. However, the lack of depth that Chelsea currently have coming through is the reason they are in trouble and could be staring down the barrel of the Europa League or worse.
Ancelotti knows this as well; therefore he is desperate to improve the qualities he has inside his midfield, especially in wide-positions. Therefore, he is on the cusp of begging for the £20m he needs to bring in the game changing winger that means he does not have to rely on Gael Kakuta as an impact sub!
Juan Manuel Mata, Valencia’s star man, is the man that Ancelotti wants and the Spanish international certainly has the x-factor that has had Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona interested in him.
The 22-year old has certainly been the main reason that Valencia are still in a Champions League place despite the financially desperate club having a massive fire sale in the summer that included David Silva, David Villa and Nikola Zigic.
They are still strapped for cash however and despite him being key to another Champions League qualification and the riches that brings, a £20m bid will be nigh-on impossible to turn down.
