Everton secured a 2-1 victory over Leicester at the weekend thanks to a wonder goal from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Brazilian winger, Richarlison, opened the scoring after just seven minutes before some woeful defending from Jonjoe Kenny allowed Ricardo Pereira to equalise. It took a moment of magic from the Iceland international to regain the lead and give Marco Silva a morale-boosting victory. Despite the win, Everton fans will be far from pleased with Kenny’s performance.

The youngster looked out of his depth against the Foxes and isn’t good enough to be playing at Premier League level at the moment. A loan move to a Championship club in January could be the ideal move for his development. Therefore, Everton would need to sign another right-back to provide competition for Seamus Coleman.

One man Silva could target is Southampton full-back – Cedric Soares. Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the Portugal international has been a key player for the Saints since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2015. Cedric made 28 appearances in the Premier League last season and has featured in every game under Mark Hughes so far this campaign.

The 27-year-old is solid going forward but also doesn’t neglect his defensive responsibilities. Cedric doesn’t possess electric pace or fancy skills but is a defender that would add some much-needed stability to the Everton back four. His arrival would provide excellent competition to Coleman at right-back and give Silva two quality options.

Allowing Kenny to leave and signing Cedric would be an astute piece of business in January.
