Spanish media outlet AS state that Celta Vigo have tabled a new offer to winger Nolito, which sporting director Miguel Torrecilla is confident the Spanish international will sign.
“The deal is on the table, we’ve discussed it and we’re waiting for the document to be finalized. We assume that this contract extension is a mere formality, we’re just waiting for the signatures,”
The one-year extension to Nolito’s deal will see the Spaniard tied-down until 2020 and will crucially raise his release clause to €25m, which means Arsenal will have to increase the price any move in order to be successful.
News of Nolito’s new deal comes amongst growing rumours of Arsenal’s interest, with Arsene Wenger said to be monitoring the 28-year-old, whilst Barcelona are said to be eying the in-form star amid a squad overhaul in 2016.
For Arsenal, the news doesn’t rule out a move but the price increase may change the situation. Our regulars believe that Wenger must pay this amount though to get his target and must not tread lightly with Barcelona ready to pounce.
