The Celtic fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern were sorry to see playmaker Patrick Roberts return to his parent club Manchester City last summer, but said goodbye in the hope that if he would be going anywhere from The Etihad this summer it would be back to Glasgow.
However, there are some worrying reports for our resident Celts in the bar this evening as the Daily Mail have been reporting that the former Fulham man, who has been cited as a target for Brendan Rodgers once more, is of interest to new Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino.
The Mail claim that the Argentine, who was brought in after the sacking of Claude Puel after just one season in charge, will contact Sky Blues boss Pep Guardiola with regards to the availability of the 20-year-old.
The £6.38m-rated midfielder bagged 17 goals and 21 assists during his time in Scotland and was a hit with the fans at Celtic Park. However, as our landlord is warning, should the opportunity of regular Premier League football at a club renowned for developing top young players present itself, then there may be little Rodgers can do to tempt him north of the border once more.
Celtic fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Roberts could come back this summer? Let us know below…
