Celtic assistant manager Mark Venus had claimed it would take a large fee for the Glasgow club to part with their prized asset and now Birmingham have come knocking armed with Carson Yeung’s millions, Celtic could be persuaded to cash in.
Birmingham have already had a bid of £8m rejected and it is thought that Celtic would encourage an improved bid beforethe transfer window closes.
McLeish will be looking to bring McGeady in especially as he has failed in his pursuits of the likes of Ryan Babel and Kenwyne Jones. It is felt that the winger would not upset the delicate balance in the changing room as McGeady could be brought in on a wage of £35k a week unlike some of his other targets who would command huge pay packets thus risking dressing room unity. McGeady too would be open to a transfer as he fancies a crack at playing south of the boarder.
As well as McGeady, McLeish is still interested in bringing in Craig Gardener from Aston Villa as Birmingham look to solidify their place in the top half of the table.
