Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking towards improvements next season, as they’ve been left unimpressed by the Saints performances in the Premier League.
Despite reaching the League Cup final at Wembley, where Southampton were unfortunate to lose to Manchester United, Claude Puel’s side will be disappointed with their season as they’re set to miss-out on European football.
That’s increased the likelihood of star-players moving away from the South Coast again this summer but it appears the club’s top-class recruitment drive is keen to snatch an impressive deal once again, as they’ve joined a highly-coveted chase.
The Daily Record states Southampton are set to rival Scottish champions Celtic in the race for 19-year-old Eupen striker Henry Onyekuru, who’s expected to be named Belgian’s Young Player of the Year following his excellent performances.
Young forward Onyekuru has scored 12 goals this season, attracting the interest of the likes of Liverpool and West Brom.
Rated at just £7m by his current employers, Southampton are also keen on a bargain deal for the striker and our landlord believes moving to St Mary’s would be a brilliant move for the young striker- as the Saints have an impressive record in developing youngsters.
Would Onyekuru be a good signing for Southampton? Let us know in the comments below!
