The summer will provide Everton and Marco Silva the opportunity to make a number of changes to their squad as it is evident the Toffees still have areas of improvement that need to be addressed.
Arrivals and departures will be expected to take place at Goodison Park in the upcoming transfer window, however, it appears one man sees his future at the club and has no plans of leaving any time soon.
What’s the News?
Speaking in an interview with Fanatik, Cenk Tosun has revealed his delight at being at Everton and has committed his future to the club by stating that he wants to be at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future.
“I’m not coming back to Turkey. I’m so happy at Everton. I want to be here for a long time. For my homeland, I want to make my flag proud here,” he said.
Tosun’s comments may be a little surprising considering his time at Everton has been anything but a smooth ride since joining them in January 2018.
Brought for a transfer fee of £20.25million by Sam Allardyce, plenty was expected of the Turkey international as he was meant to be the one that finally put an end to their goalscoring woes that the strikers at Goodison Park appear to have.
The 27-year-old finished his first six months at the Toffees with five goals to his name, however, he has since struggled for game-time under Silva this season, making a number of appearances from the substitutes bench with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and even Richarlison preferred in a position to spearhead the attack.
Tosun has long been linked with a move back to Besiktas as he continues to falter in the Premier League, however, his comments clearly show he has the intentions of turning things around and has no desire to return to his homeland in the imminent future.
Everton fans, what do you make of Tosun’s comments? Can you see him staying at Goodison Park beyond the summer? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
