Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are facing up to the possibility of losing a quality asset this summer, as one of this year’s Champions League club’s eyes a deal.
TalkSport state Borussia Monchengladbach are ready to open negotiations with Chelsea regarding a permanent deal for Andreas Christensen, who has impressed thoroughly during his spell on-loan with the Bundesliga side.
The 22-year-old is approaching the halfway mark of a two-year spell on-loan with Gladbach and he’s made tremendous progress this season, racking up 35 appearances in all competitions during a historic campaign for the club.
Whilst they faltered in the Champions League, it was a new venture for Gladbach and they’re battling Hertha Berlin for a top-four spot this term, currently trailing by four points as they head into the final four games of the season.
Chelsea rate Christensen very highly but Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl has revealed his side’s intention of completing a permanent deal, as he told club members at an annual meeting:
“You can be sure that we will do everything we can to sign him on a long-term contract,”
Our landlord is concerned by the news that could see another talented youngster sold too early, as he feels Chelsea should have learnt their lesson with Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.
