But according to the Daily Express, it may be players leaving rather than those arriving to start with as Athletic Bilbao are set to make a bid for Mikel Arteta.
The news comes after Bilbao sold their prized asset Ander Herrera to Manchester United for £28.8 million yesterday.
Basque-born midfielder Arteta is seen as the perfect replacement for Herrera and the La Liga side are set to bid £3 million for his services.
He was an ever-present in Arsenal’s midfield last summer clocking up 43 appearances in all competitions.
The 32-year old former Everton captain still has a year to run on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
But talks regarding a new one have not yet been discussed and the San Mames club have made him their number one transfer target this summer.
Bilbao finished fourth in La Liga last season and will be able to tempt Arteta with Champions League football which he has enjoyed during his time at Arsenal.
