Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are finally conceding that their hopes of signing one of the world’s biggest players is extremely unlikely, following a report that would end any pursuit of the Red Devils.
The Daily Mail states Real Madrid are ready to offer wing-wizard Gareth Bale a ‘contract for life’ at the Santiagio Bernabeu, which would see the Welsh hero become one of the best played players in the world.
Bale hasn’t quite found things easy in the Spanish capital since moving from Tottenham Hotspur for a world-record fee but he’s been a crucial part in a side that has won two Champions League titles in three seasons- and club president Florentino Perez rates him very highly.
The Welshman has been in scintillating form for his nation at Euro 2016, being the only player to score in all three group games, and he could return from the tournament to sign a contract that may be as long as seven years.
If that’s the case, the 26-year-old will be contracted to Los Blancos until he’s aged 33- and it effectively rules out any chances of him returning to the Premier League.
