A rumour has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern courtesy of sources at Sky Sports, that a host of Championship clubs are chasing West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson.
The highly rated youngster has yet to feature in the Premier League for Steve Clarke, and has also drawn attention from several Premier League clubs.
Premier League Swansea City are also reportedly keen, although it is understood the Baggies are reluctant to sell, and are only willing to let the 22-year-old go out on loan to the Championship.
It is thought Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers, Leicester City, Barnsley, Burnley and Nottingham Forest are all keen on doing a deal for the England Under-21 international.
Dawson started his career way down the league ladder at Radcliffe Borough but earned a reputation as a goalscoring centre half during his time at Rochdale. His meteoric rise even saw the defender forge part of Stuart Pearce’s Team GB squad that took part at the London 2012 summer Olympics.
He doesn’t feature regularly at The Hawthorns but it appears that West Brom still hold him in high regard as one for the future signalled via their intentions to only let him leave on loan.
