The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were the last supporters standing in the pub last night, owing to a last minute goal from Hector Bellerin against Chelsea. Though the fans had begun piling out of the Emirates, the Arsenal faithful remained in full voice in the pub – and they got their rewards in the closing stages.
Hector Bellerin’s fantastic strike to secure a 2-2 draw with reigning Premier League champions Chelsea added some much-needed shine to a pretty decent performance from the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger’s men competing well with the Blues.
There were more than a few standout performances from the Arsenal players, with fine displays from Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere earning a lot of praise in the Transfer Tavern. However, the performance of Calum Chambers stood out for all the wrong reasons.
The Englishman had a torrid time against the Blues, with players including Eden Hazard really running him ragged. His evening was summed up when he gave away a penalty that was put away by the Belgian, with Arsene Wenger bringing him off not long after.
Indeed, he’s not a very popular man amongst our resident Gunners today, and the same can be said for the Arsenal fans over on Twitter. Taking to the social media site to react to the game, most fans had positive things to say about their side’s performance, but Chambers has earned a lot of criticism.
With many describing him as simply not good enough, take a look at a few responses below…
Ozil was on it tonight and was seriously impressed with Nile’s. Chambers though, absolute pony #AFC #ozil #WengerOut

Good result. Back 3 a bit suspect. Chambers looks like he isn’t good enough. Missed Koscielny on the night. Onto smashing Forest at the weekend #COYG #AFC

Chambers is a championship player.
Xhaka is a bottom half of the table player.

@Arsenal seriously need to get Chambers and Xhaka off their books as well. We win that game if we have better players in their positions. #AFC

Would more than happily never see Chambers & Holding in Arsenal shirts ever again #afc

Chambers and holding are a bunch of clowns #afc #Useless

When is #Arsenal gonna get world class defenders. #Chambers was a disaster. Defending is non existant. Attackers are doing their best but #Cech and defense not up to standard.

I think Chambers is done and won't make it at Arsenal. The guy gives the ball away without no pressure whatsoever and that is a sign of a player who believes he isn't cut out to be at top level football. His rocovery also is shocking due to his pace. #AFCvCFC #Arsenal
