Southampton have had a torrid season so far and frustrations could certainly be felt following the draw against Watford prior to the international break.
Charlie Austin wrongly had a goal disallowed which would have given the Saints a 2-0 lead and would likely have sealed just their second win of the Premier League season.
The striker was outraged with the decision to rule it out and provided an angry reaction in his post-match interview.
The FA are believed to have had until Tuesday night to charge him, but it is believed that he may have been given the benefit of the doubt after branding the situation as “a joke”.
The fact that Austin will not be facing any action for his remarks will have been a positive boost for Southampton.
The Saints will need all the help they can to get their season underway and the striker will be looking to play a key role in their efforts.
Austin should be available for their match against Fulham, with Mark Hughes’ side surely having to eye that fixture as a must-win.
