The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern just don’t understand what is going on with Mamadou Sakho…
An impressive end to the 2015/16 season was marred by an incident during Liverpool’s pre-season tour ahead of this campaign – and Sakho has hardly been seen since.
He has appeared, sparingly, in Liverpool’s reserve teams – but he has yet to feature for the first team, and given that we are quickly approaching the half-way point of the Premier League; it would appear as though his career at Anfield is coming to an end.
Given Sakho’s lack of game time this season, though, the Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have questioned whether clubs will show interest in the Frenchman – with his fitness and quality still under scrutiny given that he has hardly appeared.
This does not appear to be the case, though, with Calcio Mercato reporting that the chase for Sakho is beginning to heat up. According to Calcio Mercato, Serie A sides Inter Milan and AC Milan are both showing an interest in Sakho – with AC Milan’s interest in the defender stretching back to his days at PSG.
Calcio Mercato do note, however, that Sakho’s lack of game time could have an impact on any proposed deal – and that has made a few of the Liverpool fans in the Tavern doubt whether this deal will actually go ahead.
Despite Sakho’s lack of activity this season, there is no doubting how good he can be on his day. A defensive stalwart, Sakho is powerful and technical – and whilst he has proven to be somewhat inconsistent, he has generally impressed in a Liverpool shirt thus far.
Our landlord thinks that a deal for Sakho is seemingly inevitable…
