The Daily Mail has some news that has Chelsea fans sitting on the edge of their seats here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that Ashley Cole could well be courted by MLS sides.
The North American top flight are looking to expand even further in 2015 and attract even better players, and have put the England international at the top of their list.
The 32-year-old has seen his star fade slightly this season, both domestically and internationally.
In terms of his starting place in the Chelsea line up, Cole has seen young full back Cesar Azpilicueta take his place and is not too happy about it.
Despite still being called the consummate professional by Jose Mourinho, Cole is still wary over his future and would not rule out a big final pay day in the USA.
As our landlord points out, this is the man who nearly crashed his car after being offered £60,000 per week with his former club Arsenal. Clearly money is a factor for the player!
When it comes to his place in the England side, Cole has seen Leighton Baines seriously push him for that, and is now worried that should Mourinho keep him on the bench for the rest of the season, he would struggle to be in that starting eleven in Rio next summer.
The left back clearly has plenty left to give, and the MLS are desperate to bring in players who are not over the hill and right at the end of their careers.
