Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating which approach to take with a young talent of theirs, after it emerged he’s chasing huge promises to stay at the club.
The Daily Mail claims young talent Dominic Solanke is demanding a whopping £50k-a-week contract to stay at Stamford Bridge, despite the fact he’s played just 17 minutes of first-team football with the Blues.
Contract talks between Chelsea and the England U21 international have stalled in recent weeks, with Solanke also seeking promises of first-team action, and Chelsea risk losing the 18-year-old as he enters the final year of his contract.
Solanke has spent this season on-loan in Holland with Vitesse Arnheim, where he has scored seven goals in 25 appearances, and Chelsea will be desperate not to lose the highly-rated asset, who’s been with the west London side since U-8’s level.
Chelsea have often been criticised for failing to provide young talent with a route to the first-team and it’s a problem our landlord hopes Antonio Conte addresses this summer, as he feels Jose Mourinho only made the problem worse during his spell.
