Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up with interest as it is claimed by Sporting Life that the club may well have sold Kevin de Bruyne to Borussia Dortmund.
The club have long been linked with selling the player who has spent the season on loan in the Bundesliga at Werder Bremen and could well be set to make the switch to Germany permanently. It had been thought that Chelsea would be willing to use de Bruyne as part of a deal for Dortmund star – forward Robert Lewandowski who is set to leave the club this summer.
Dortmund claimed to Bild that: “I am not going to either confirm or deny this agreement,
“Kevin De Bruyne is under contract with Chelsea FC, he is a good player currently on loan at Werder Bremen.”
In a further twist in the saga, the player himself admitted that he had been keeping tabs on the German side noting their rise and progression in the Champions League noting that: “I am keeping tabs on what they have been doing.
“They have performed admirably in the Champions League, just like Bayern. We will see what happens.”
Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with a swoop for the player who again was being considered as a makeweight in a deal for £20 million rated Andre Schurrle.
