Chelsea supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping that the transfer talk as reported by The Mirror doesn’t come to avail as they read that Monaco are lining up a swoop for Frank Lampard.
Of course, Lampard has been part of a ridiculous situation at Stamford Bridge this season and despite his form and professionalism, he still awaits a new deal that has shocked the football community.
Given Chelsea’s reluctance to award Lampard a new deal as yet, other clubs have been monitoring the situation closely and with LA Galaxy making their admiration of the player known, Monaco are the latest to jump on the bandwagon and given they are managed by former Blues boss Claudio Ranieri, the Ligue 2 side are hoping that this can prove a deal broker.
Monaco are owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev and are surely well placed to offer Lampard a lucrative deal in terms of wages but it remains to be seen whether Lampard would be interested in following Joey Barton’s and David Beckham’s lead by moving across the English Channel.
