The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been disappointed with him in recent weeks…
Gary Cahill has been at the centre of a lot of harsh criticism lately as a result of a number of poor performances in a Blue shirt since the start of the season.
A mistake against Swansea was followed up by a further error against Arsenal – with fans, including those supporting Chelsea, slamming the England defender.
Cahill has been a solid defender for The Blues over the last few years – and our landlord has always felt that criticism of the Englishman is unwarranted.
Now, the 30-year-old has come out and definitely brushed off the criticism of his current form.
He added: “The only people I have to prove myself to is the manager of the football club that I’m playing at and my teammates that I’m playing with.”
Elaborating on the errors: “I basically made my own mistakes out of nothing, so as ridiculously as bad as they were, they are also easy to correct”.
Cahill doesn’t seem concerned about his lack of form, and this should stand him in good stead going forward.
He put on a stellar display against Hull at the weekend as he looked to silence the doubters; and his deficiency has given the Chelsea fans in the Tavern hope.
They will be hoping he kicks on from here on out.
Our landlord doesn’t think you can become a bad player overnight – and Cahill’s trophy cabinet speaks for itself. He thinks that Cahill will be back to his best in no time.
