Chelsea admit defeat after targeting Shaw transfer alternative?

Parking the bus too many times Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern will have to wait until Tuesday to check out their latest target who will be appearing for Russia at the World Cup.

As according to Metro, Chelsea have given up on Southampton defender Luke Shaw and instead are targeting CSKA Moscow left back Georgi Schennikov.

The West London side are looking to replace Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge after the former England international saw his contract expire.

Jose Mourinho has highlighted the 23-year-old as the perfect replacement and could get his man for less than £10 million.

This is a lot less than the reported £30 million deal that Manchester United have secured for Shaw.

The Russian, who is set to line-up in this month’s World Cup, has previously interested Real Madrid and AC Milan but Chelsea lead the charge.

Chelsea fans. Will you be casting your eyes over the Russian defender when he plays against South Korea on Tuesday? Let us know your thoughts below.
