Chelsea ‘agree deal’ in past 48 hours to sign £28.2m international midfielder

NainggolanNainggolanChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleasantly surprised by reports that they’ve completed a major deal already ahead of the summer, with Antonio Conte seemingly getting stuck-in immediately.

The Daily Mirror state Chelsea have reached a deal to sign Radja Nainggolan from Serie A giants Roma, with an agreement reportedly being reached in the past 48 hours.

Chelsea are in need of a major reshuffle this summer after a woeful season, which is likely to see the Blues miss out on European football altogether next term, and a £28.2m deal for Nainggolan would be a significant purchase.

The Blues midfield has struggled this season, with last term’s starring duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic failing to provide their best form on a regular basis, so the addition of Nainggolan to the squad will add vast depth.

Nainggolan’s signing would also be a significant statement from the club, as it would be the fifth most expensive signing in the club’s history, behind only Andriy Shevchenko, Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Fernando Torres.
