There are some excited faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro claim that Chelsea have agreed personal terms for Napoli’s superstar striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan international forward has been on the radar of just about everyone who can afford him this summer and Real Madrid have made serious roads into signing the player, as have Manchester City yet it seems that it is Jose Mourinho who has finally convinced the forward that a move to the Premier League and more specifically Stamford Bridge is the right thing to do.
Napoli are demanding at least £54 million for Cavani and one can be sure that new Neapolitans boss Rafael Benitez will do his former side no favours by letting his star man go easily.
It is thought that Chelsea have agreed personal terms for the forward in a deal that will see him become the main forward at the club, raising doubts over the future of the misfiring Fernando Torres.
It also leaves questions over the potential move for Wayne Rooney who wants to leave Manchester United but is keen to stay in the Premier League and link up with Jose Mourinho.
Nearing the Cavani deal means that Chelsea are set to take their summer transfer total even higher and show serious intent to bring the Premier League title back to Stamford Bridge.
