Chelsea agree terms for immediate signing

AmeliaChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been having an early taste of our Christmas cocktail menu, as well as the January transfer window.

The Blues are reported to have agreed terms with former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia, who is free to join the club immediately as he is a free agent.

Amelia’s arrival will provide some depth to Chelsea’s options between the sticks, which have been rocked due to Thibaut Courtois’ long-term absence. Without him, the Blues have just Asmir Begovic as an experienced option.

The 33-year-old was released by Milan in summer 2014 and has not had a club since but celebrated the contract with Chelsea, as his agent posted a picture on Instagram.

Our punters are pleased this problem has been resolved but doubt whether they will actually see Amelia ever wear their Blue jersey, although they do remember a problem they had a decade ago when both Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini were injured in the same match.

Chelsea fans, will Amelia make an appearance for you? Let us know in the comments below!
