Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are rubbing their hands in excitement after hearing that they could beat Premier League rivals Manchester United to the signature of one of La Liga’s finest players.
Spanish media outlet Fichajes state that Chelsea are keen to secure Sofiane Feghouli on a free transfer from Valencia, with the Algerian international reluctant to sign a new deal- which would make him available on a free transfer next summer.
Manchester United were reported to have made an official approach for Feghouli’s services over the weekend but Chelsea are desperate to win the race for the talented wide-man, who they see as an ideal replacement for Eden Hazard.
Hazard has suffered a drastic loss of form this season and is heavily linked with a move abroad in 2016, a move that seems likely should Chelsea fail to turn around their poor start to the season and miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The potential arrival of Feghouli would lesser the blow of losing Hazard though, as the Algerian is regarded by many as one of the finest attackers in Spanish football outside of La Liga’s elite trio of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea fans, is Feghouli good enough to replace Hazard? Should he join you over Man United? Let us know in the comments below!
