We’re not entirely sure what David Luiz has done wrong to Jose Mourinho at Chelsea but the classy Brazilian defender can’t seem to get a game in the Premier League!
That has led to reports in the Football Transfer Tavern that the 26-year-old could depart for Barcelona in the near future.
Now Mirror Football suggest that the Blues could move again for FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala as Mourinho seeks a quality replacement for the out of favour Luiz.
The recently capped French international was on Mourinho’s radar this summer but no transfer materialised. However, the Blues could revive now their interest during the upcoming transfer window.
The Portuguese giants still have no ambitions to sell their star centre back for lower than the set £40 million release clause but is it still understood that an offer of around £20 million could be enough to see him arriving at Stamford Bridge.
It is believed that Mourinho’s agent and someone who is often regarded as his right hand man Jorge Mendes is trying to broker a deal for the 6 ft 2 in defender.
However the Blues could also face fierce competition from mega rich outfit Monaco who are planning an approach of their own in January.
Will Chelsea have more luck this time round for the French international? Let us know your thoughts below.
