Metro have made Chelsea fans very happy here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that the club have finally agreed a deal to sign Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
Jose Mourinho has been chasing the player all summer and his efforts have now paid off beating a host of clubs including Manchester United to the signing of the highly rated 20-year-old for around £8 million.
van Ginkel has been on the radar of the Premier League duo for some time now and is finally on his way to Stamford Bridge.
As we all know, Mourinho does not mess about when it comes to signing the players he thinks will make his team unstoppable and he has already lured Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle to the club this summer.
Chelsea now boast a midfield that contains the likes of not only Frank Lampard and Juan Mata, but also Eden Hazard and Oscar – tough competition for anyone to break in front of – meaning the future of the long serving John Obi Mikel has been cast into further doubt.
Mikel seems to be on the verge of a move to Turkish champions Galatasaray and could well be set to follow Marko Marin out of the exit door after the German outcast joined La Liga outfit Sevilla on a season long loan.
Chelsea fans. How pleased are you to have finally clinched a deal for van Ginkel? How good is this lad? Let us know your thoughts below.
