Chelsea and Arsenal in race for much-coveted £40m-rated attacker

Arsenal and Chelsea are the talk of the Transfer Tavern at present, especially after Saturday afternoon’s thrashing at Stamford Bridge…

In a game that had so much riding on it, Arsenal failed to turn up and were blown away by the Blues – with Antonio Conte’s Chelsea coming out deserved 3-1 winners.

With 12 points now separating the clubs, Arsenal’s title challenge is quickly diminishing – whilst Chelsea continue to increase their grip on the Premier League trophy.

It appears as though the battles between Arsenal and Chelsea are showing no sign of slowing down, though, with the duo set to duke it out over the summer, too.

According to the Sun, Arsenal and Chelsea are leading the chase for £40m-rated Atletico Madrid man Yannick Carrasco, though they face competition from the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich.

Carrasco has been absolutely vital for Atletico Madrid this season, having made a total of 21 appearances so far. In that time, he has also scored 6 goals and assisted twice – signalling the impact that he is having on Diego Simeone’s side.

A versatile attacker, he is able to play across the front line – though is undoubtedly most effective from the flanks. With Chelsea lacking depth across the attack, though, Carrasco’s versatility could be vital. Likewise, with the futures of the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Giroud lacking certainty, could he come in at the Emirates?

Our landlord thinks that it’s going to be a very interesting summer in London…
