Fans from across the London divide have both received an immense transfer boost today, after it was confirmed by the player’s agent that a target of both Arsenal and Chelsea will reject a contract offer on the table.
German media outlet Bild quote the agent of Borussia Dortmund ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mino Raiola, as confirming his Armenian client would reject a contract extension on the table from the German side.
“Why should we prolong it now? ‘Micki’ is under contract until 2017, and we continue to think about his future.”
It has been reported that Mkhitaryan’s demands have not been met as the player wanted a clause that would allow him to leave should coach Thomas Tuchel depart, which Dortmund rejected as they will no longer put release-clauses in player’s contracts.
It’s good news for Arsenal and Chelsea, who have both been linked to the player in recent weeks, although Dortmund could play hardball and insist the player sees out the final year of his contract, which is due to expire in 2017.
Would Mkhitaryan be the right addition to either of these Premier League sides? Let us know in the comments below!
